Our singing lessons start with a quick chat about your goals and aspirations and we discuss where you feel you are with your singing and speaking voice. Next, we do  a few exercises to get you comfortable and start your journey with good vocal techniques. Finally, we will work on a song, so make sure you come with an idea of a song you might like to do. Some students want to jump straight into a song; some want to work on technique. 

Yes, online lessons can be extremely productive. Online singing classes in San Diego are delivered through Zoom, Google Meet or Teams. 

There is nothing better than working on developing your voice through being creative with it. Barbara is also a songwriting coach with years of experience in the music industry.

Yes, you will be given vocal exercises and songs to work on, you will be advised how to practise.

Although reading music is extremely helpful, it is not necessary for learning to sing. Many professional singers and songwriters don’t read music.

Barbara Tobler is a versatile, dynamic singer and performer who is known for her ability to sing in different styles and languages including classical, pop, broadway, jazz, blues, and rock.  Barbara found her roots in opera after winning the Austrian American Society Vocal Competition, which sent her to live and study at the prestigious Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.  From there, she enjoyed a successful career performing in opera houses around the world.  Barbara returned to the United States to complete her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance while continuing her performance career.  She went on to become a college professor and began her private studio where she explored and expanded her interests into other genres and styles of music.  Currently, Barbara can be seen and heard performing with the trio, Lyriphon, and the band, Crimson Coil.

With over 25 years of experience being a voice teacher San Diego professional and in teaching the technique of singing, Barbara maintains two San Diego based studios in downtown and Carlsbad.  Barbara is a widely sought-after vocal coach earning her top recognition on sites like Expertise.com as one of San Diego’s Best Voice Teachers.
